This snowy scene looks up at NCAR and the base of Bear Peak beyond, from a spot near the Bear Canyon Trailhead off Lehigh Street in South Boulder. Back in 2017 when I was a full-time pet sitter just starting to take painting classes, I walked this area extensively in all seasons, rain or shine (or snow). I loved having the chance to watch the seasons change day by day, exploring South Boulder’s many trails until I knew them like the back of my hand. Bear Canyon and Shanahan Ridge trails were two of my canine clients’ favorite routes, especially with a foot of fresh snow like in this scene.
