I took the reference photo for this piece one evening after the 2025 Crested Butte Arts Festival. I was buzzing from talking about art, nature and hiking all day, seeing hundreds of people connect with my work, and feeling the culmination of everything it took to get there. I knew those moments of accomplishment are fleeting, those few breaths of fresh air before the next project demands your attention, so I pulled over to savor a quiet moment with this glorious sunset over Long Lake with Mount Crested Butte in the distance. I was bursting with gratitude- how lucky am I that I get to be here??

I tried to capture that feeling with this piece as a permanent reminder to stop, pull over, and take a quiet moment amid the chaos to feel some gratitude.
