This Death Valley visit at the end of February is very special to me, as it was my first road trip with my new partner and my first time in Death Valley (during a superbloom too!). We hiked up to Zabriskie Point to catch the tail end of sunrise before descending down into the ancient dunes while the sun was still low. It was the start of an incredible day in this otherworldly desert landscape.

These badlands used to be an ancient lake before the formation of nearby mountains dried everything out. Today Death Valley is the largest national park in the contiguous US, as well as the hottest, driest and lowest park. Here you can go from the lowest point in North America, 282 ft below sea level, to 11,000 ft above sea level at Telescope Peak.
