This was the very last hike of my Glacier-Grant Teton trip. Starting at Jenny Lake the day after the ferry closed for the season I hiked up Cascade Canyon through the morning mist up to beautiful Lake Solitude. On the way back down from the lake I had to stop to admire this view (from left to right) of Teewinot Mountain, Mount Owen, and Grand Teton. The afternoon sun lit up the bright fall foliage and I knew I would have to paint this scene. Since it was a 16 mile day, though, I saved it for the studio.
